Latest BF3 issues for creating tournaments

So we have been doing testing and pretty well have a feel for the server set ups but we have two major concerns that will affect tournament play:

      1. Players can join private rooms via friends list even when passworded
      2. Outside of 4 v 4 there is no way to get the teams in the match and on the right side, before the match starts

Please provide any feedback or ideas you may have on these issues.

I know in COD people would have on there psn comment, WAR dont Join etc.

I thought the Admin can change the players sides. Its been done on me. Also they can kick players out as well. I been in scrimmages where we allowed a 1 minute grace period for everyone to be able to switch, the last person would be messaged to join the room once everyone had there players on their side.

For the admin to do this, they would have to be in the room so that would require we have an admin available for each room, we have thought about this and the logistics are a problem. We have talked about the grace period as well, and though some of the older clans here would not have an issue, we expect quite a few new clans and this can also cause some major issues.

Why can't these people just release everything day one... I mean the whole match scheduling is supposed to make this work, but why release it with the servers?

We can get all your guys on the same side, server admins have the ability to move players around. Would we be using the UF server or our own servers? Not sure if its possible but you could make one of the clan leaders an admin for their specific match to get the teams right then delete them after the match. The Friend list join thing kinda suck but I guess you could mark your status as busy and add do not join to your comment. There is a way to make your PSN show that you are offline but I'm not sure if you would still show up on the BF3 menu.

I forgot to mention that you can change the Max player count to any number that you wish. If matches are 8vs8 and you have a max player count of 16 their is nothing to worry about...unless someone drops out.

Maybe just use the clans private server. There'll be a home team and they will be responsible for controlling the room.

I just realized I did not finish the sentence, I have updated it...

Get the teams in the server on the right side before the match starts...

No matter who has control of the server these two issues are not controllable.

Re: Latest BF3 issues for creating tournaments

As stated in a prior post, simply set the room up with the proper amount of players for that tournament. Players in the match can follow through their friends list and will be put on the same side. As an admin it is very easy and quick to kick someone if a members gets booted and someone not in the match enters. Each clan can rent a server if they do not have one already. If there are two matches a week then it will only cost the clan $3.00 a week. That is affordable if you ask me.

As for starting the match, the clan leaders/representatives can either create a text chat through the xmb or message each other that they are ready. Once this is done all members will then be allowed to leave their spawn area.

Re: Latest BF3 issues for creating tournaments

Something else to consider is if you take team balancing then players can switch themselves from one team to the other without the help of an admin. This eliminates the need for any admin to be present. That said, there is no way to have people in the room BEFORE the round starts because there is essentially no lobby system(unless your in between maps).

So the only way to set this up would be to allow team switch to occur without the team balancing(again allowing anyone to switch whenever they want) and have a buffer map(more than likely should be a static setup as far as map & time to allow everyone to get in and squared away) so everyone can join and get on the right side. Finally, the room should be set to the exact number of players in the match this way you don't have anyone joining a 4 v 4 match from the friends list.

*As an aside the only way someone can join a private server without the password would be from your friends list and I think we should all be able to keep control of what's going on there. That said, I think if it's a private server it should be a PRIVATE SERVER!*

Well you can put a certain number of players need to be in the room before the match starts but unfortunately its max 12 people.
